1 I stalo se po smrti Mojžíše, otroka Hospodinova, Hospodin řekl Jozuovi, synu Núnovu, služebníku Mojžíšovu:

1 וַיְהִי אַחֲרֵי מוֹת מֹשֶׁה עֶבֶד יְהוָה וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן־נוּן מְשָׁרֵת מֹשֶׁה לֵאמֹר ׃

1  After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying,

2 Mojžíš, můj otrok, zemřel. Nyní tedy vstaň, přejdi tento Jordán, ty a všechen tento lid, do země, kterou jim, synům Izraele, dávám.

2 מֹשֶׁה עַבְדִּי מֵת וְעַתָּה קוּם עֲבֹר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן הַזֶּה אַתָּה וְכָל־הָעָם הַזֶּה אֶל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי נֹתֵן לָהֶם לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל ׃

2  "My servant Moses is dead. Now proceed to cross the Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the Israelites.

3 Každé místo, na které šlápne vaše chodidlo, jsem vám dal, jak jsem to prohlásil před Mojžíšem.

3 כָּל־מָקוֹם אֲשֶׁר תִּדְרֹךְ כַּף־רַגְלְכֶם בּוֹ לָכֶם נְתַתִּיו כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי אֶל־מֹשֶׁה ׃

3  Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, as I promised to Moses.

4 Od pustiny a tohoto Libanonu až k veliké řece, řece Eufratu, celá země Chetejců až k Velikému moři západ slunce bude vaším územím.

4 מֵהַמִּדְבָּר וְהַלְּבָנוֹן הַזֶּה וְעַד־הַנָּהָר הַגָּדוֹל נְהַר־פְּרָת כֹּל אֶרֶץ הַחִתִּים וְעַד־הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל מְבוֹא הַשָּׁמֶשׁ יִהְיֶה גְּבוּלְכֶם ׃

4  From the wilderness and the Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, to the Great Sea in the west shall be your territory.

5 Nikdo se proti tobě nepostaví všechny dny tvého života. Jako jsem byl s Mojžíšem, budu s tebou. Nenechám tě klesnout ani tě neopustím.

5 לֹא־יִתְיַצֵּב אִישׁ לְפָנֶיךָ כֹּל יְמֵי חַיֶּיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר הָיִיתִי עִם־מֹשֶׁה אֶהְיֶה עִמָּךְ לֹא אַרְפְּךָ וְלֹא אֶעֶזְבֶךָּ ׃

5  No one shall be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.

6 Posilni se a buď odvážný, protože ty dáš lidu dědictví tuto zemi, které jsem přísahal jejich otcům, že jim dám.

6 חֲזַק וֶאֱמָץ כִּי אַתָּה תַּנְחִיל אֶת־הָעָם הַזֶּה אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי לַאֲבוֹתָם לָתֵת לָהֶם ׃

6  Be strong and courageous; for you shall put this people in possession of the land that I swore to their ancestors to give them.

7 Hlavně se posilni a buď velmi odvážný, abys zachovával plnil celý zákon, jak ti přikázal Mojžíš, můj otrok. Neodvrať se od něj napravo ani nalevo, abys rozumně jednal všude, kam půjdeš.

7 רַק חֲזַק וֶאֱמַץ מְאֹד לִשְׁמֹר לַעֲשׂוֹת כְּכָל־הַתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר צִוְּךָ מֹשֶׁה עַבְדִּי אַל־תָּסוּר מִמֶּנּוּ יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאול לְמַעַן תַּשְׂכִּיל בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר תֵּלֵךְ ׃

7  Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to act in accordance with all the law that my servant Moses commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, so that you may be successful wherever you go.

8 Kniha tohoto zákona se nevzdálí od tvých úst. Budeš nad ním rozjímat ve dne i v noci, abys zachovával konal všechno, co je v něm zapsáno, protože tehdy dosáhneš na své cestě úspěchu a tehdy budeš rozumně jednat.

8 לֹא־יָמוּשׁ סֵפֶר הַתּוֹרָה הַזֶּה מִפִּיךָ וְהָגִיתָ בּוֹ יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה לְמַעַן תִּשְׁמֹר לַעֲשׂוֹת כְּכָל־הַכָּתוּב בּוֹ כִּי־אָז תַּצְלִיחַ אֶת־דְּרָכֶךָ וְאָז תַּשְׂכִּיל ׃

8  This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.

9 Vždyť jsem ti přikázal: Posilni se a buď odvážný, neměj strach a neděs se, protože Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, s tebou všude, kam půjdeš.

9 הֲלוֹא צִוִּיתִיךָ חֲזַק וֶאֱמָץ אַל־תַּעֲרֹץ וְאַל־תֵּחָת כִּי עִמְּךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר תֵּלֵךְ ׃ פ

9  I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

10 Poté Jozue přikázal správcům lidu:

10 וַיְצַו יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת־שֹׁטְרֵי הָעָם לֵאמֹר ׃

10  Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people,

11 Projděte středem tábora a přikažte lidu: Připravte si zásobu potravin, protože za tři dny budete procházet tímto Jordánem, abyste šli obsadit zemi, kterou vám Hospodin, váš Bůh, dává, abyste ji obsadili.

11 עִבְרוּ בְּקֶרֶב הַמַּחֲנֶה וְצַוּוּ אֶת־הָעָם לֵאמֹר הָכִינוּ לָכֶם צֵידָה כִּי בְּעוֹד שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן הַזֶּה לָבוֹא לָרֶשֶׁת אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם נֹתֵן לָכֶם לְרִשְׁתָּהּ ׃ ס

11  "Pass through the camp, and command the people: 'Prepare your provisions; for in three days you are to cross over the Jordan, to go in to take possession of the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess.'"

12 Rúbenovcům, Gádovcům a polovině kmene Manasesova pak Jozue řekl:

12 וְלָראוּבֵנִי וְלַגָּדִי וְלַחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַמְנַשֶּׁה אָמַר יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר ׃

12  To the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh Joshua said,

13 Vzpomeňte si slovo, které vám přikázal Mojžíš, otrok Hospodinův: Hospodin, váš Bůh, vám dopřává odpočinutí a dá vám tuto zemi.

13 זָכוֹר אֶת־הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֶתְכֶם מֹשֶׁה עֶבֶד־יְהוָה לֵאמֹר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם מֵנִיחַ לָכֶם וְנָתַן לָכֶם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת ׃

13  "Remember the word that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, 'The LORD your God is providing you a place of rest, and will give you this land.'

14 Vaše ženy, vaše malé děti a vaše stáda zůstanou v zemi, kterou vám dal Mojžíš na druhé straně Jordánu a vy, všichni udatní hrdinové, projdete sešikováni před svými bratry a pomůžete jim,

14 נְשֵׁיכֶם טַפְּכֶם וּמִקְנֵיכֶם יֵשְׁבוּ בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לָכֶם מֹשֶׁה בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן וְאַתֶּם תַּעַבְרוּ חֲמֻשִׁים לִפְנֵי אֲחֵיכֶם כֹּל גִּבּוֹרֵי הַחַיִל וַעֲזַרְתֶּם אוֹתָם ׃

14  Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land that Moses gave you beyond the Jordan. But all the warriors among you shall cross over armed before your kindred and shall help them,

15 dokud Hospodin dá odpočinek vašim bratrům tak jako vám a obsadí také oni zemi, kterou jim dává Hospodin, váš Bůh. Potom se navrátíte do země, jste obsadili vy, a obsadíte, co vám Mojžíš, otrok Hospodinův, dal na druhé straně Jordánu východu slunce.

15 עַד אֲשֶׁר־יָנִיחַ יְהוָה לַאֲחֵיכֶם כָּכֶם וְיָרְשׁוּ גַם־הֵמָּה אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם נֹתֵן לָהֶם וְשַׁבְתֶּם לְאֶרֶץ יְרֻשַּׁתְכֶם וִירִשְׁתֶּם אוֹתָהּ אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לָכֶם מֹשֶׁה עֶבֶד יְהוָה בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן מִזְרַח הַשָּׁמֶשׁ ׃

15  until the LORD gives rest to your kindred as well as to you, and they too take possession of the land that the LORD your God is giving them. Then you shall return to your own land and take possession of it, the land that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan to the east."

16 Nato Jozuovi odpověděli: Vykonáme vše, jak jsi nám přikázal, a do všeho, čeho nás pošleš, půjdeme.

16 וַיַּעֲנוּ אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר כֹּל אֲשֶׁר־צִוִּיתָנוּ נַעֲשֶׂה וְאֶל־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר תִּשְׁלָחֵנוּ נֵלֵךְ ׃

16  They answered Joshua: "All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

17 Budeme tě poslouchat, stejně jako jsme poslouchali Mojžíše; jenom je Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, s tebou, tak jako byl s Mojžíšem.

17 כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר־שָׁמַעְנוּ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה כֵּן נִשְׁמַע אֵלֶיךָ רַק יִהְיֶה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ עִמָּךְ כַּאֲשֶׁר הָיָה עִם־מֹשֶׁה ׃

17  Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you. Only may the LORD your God be with you, as he was with Moses!

18 Každý, kdo se bude vzpírat tvým příkazům a neuposlechne tvá slova ve všem, co mu přikážeš, bude usmrcen. Hlavně se posilni a buď odvážný.

18 כָּל־אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יַמְרֶה אֶת־פִּיךָ וְלֹא־יִשְׁמַע אֶת־דְּבָרֶיךָ לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־תְּצַוֶּנּוּ יוּמָת רַק חֲזַק וֶאֱמָץ ׃ פ

18  Whoever rebels against your orders and disobeys your words, whatever you command, shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous."
