Mean SSTR mRNA level was the highest for SSTR3 followed by SSTR1, SSTR2, SSTR5, and SSTR4. Statistical analysis showed a negative correlation between SSTR2 and tumor size, a positive correlation between SSTR2 and estrogen receptors (ER), and a trend towards a positive correlation between SSTR2 and progesterone receptor, SSTR1 and ER, SSTR1 and lymph node status, and SSTR3 and tumor grade. Breast cancer cell lines also expressed multiple SSTR subtypes but the level of receptor expression was less than that in solid tumors. A panel of antibodies against hSSTR1-5 was produced which detected all five SSTR antigens by Western blots and immunocytochemistry. Abstract The careful orchestration of cellular events such as DNA replication, repair, and segregation is essential for equal distribution of the duplicated genome into two daughter cells. To ensure that persistent recombination intermediates are resolved prior to cell division, the Yen1 Holliday junction resolvase is activated at anaphase. Here, we show that the master cell-cycle regulators, cyclin-dependent kinase (Cdk) and Cdc14 phosphatase, control the actions of Yen1. During S phase, Cdk-mediated phosphorylation of Yen1 promotes its nuclear exclusion and inhibits catalytic activity by reducing the efficiency of DNA binding. Later in the cell cycle, at anaphase, Cdc14 drives Yen1 dephosphorylation, leading to its nuclear relocalization and enzymatic activation. However there is no information on the co-expression of both genes in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). We found a lack of correlation between RNA and protein levels of p27 and Myc in CLL cells, so we determined the protein levels by immunoblot in 107 cases of CLL. We observed a high p27 protein expression in CLL compared to normal B cells. Ectopic p27 expression in a CLL-derived cell line resulted in cell death resistance. Surprisingly, Myc expression was very low or undetectable in most CLL cases analyzed, with a clear correlation between high p27 and low Myc protein levels.
