Google, Samsung, LG to send monthly Android security fixesSamsung, L-G and Google say they'll have MONTHLY security updates for their smartphones on Android. The biggest software update ever's coming to Android phones..... At least that's what the lead engineer for Android's security thinks. Android's trying to fix a bug in the phone's operating system called Stagefright--- it could let hackers get access to data from a BILLION phones. But phone manufacturers've been slow to fix the bug--- it was first discovered last month. So some of them are making changes to fix problems more quickly..... But why's it been taking so long to fix Stagefright? B-B-C says it's because there are a lot of different varieties of Android out there... It's open source, so phone manufacturers are free to change it however they want. And it can take a while to rebuild customized versions of the operating system with the patches. Nexus phones should be getting the fix first, and other phones'll follow soon after.20152025-07-15T10:35:07Z
